Jack Roesle Inducted into Composites Hall of Fame

October, 2007 : Tampa, FL

Jack RoesleThe legacy of Jack Roesle, Global Vice President of Sales and Marketing for AOC, has been added to the industry’s most prestigious honor roll with his induction into the Composites Industry Hall of Fame. The Hall of Fame is sponsored and managed by the American Composites Manufacturers Association (ACMA). Eligibility for the Hall of Fame requires at least 20 years service to the industry with a lasting impact that is forever felt by industry professionals.

Roesle has been a tireless and influential leader in the advancement of composites to end-use customer industries. Roesle began his career with Owens Corning Fiberglas in building products and moved to the Resins & Coatings Division in 1976. Since that time he has been active in the marketing and sales of composite applications leading to significant breakthroughs in both automotive and infrastructure applications.

Automotive emphasis
In the crucial early years of the SMC-Automotive Alliance, Roesle chaired the  Technical Committee and participated in OEM-sponsored initiatives that resulted  in increased use of composite structural and body panel applications.

The Committee’s most significant accomplishment was the completion of an exhaustive technical study of the variables controlling surface quality and paint performance of SMC automotive body panels versus competitive material systems. This landmark study was instrumental in the campaign that had OEMs growing the use of composites on cars and trucks.

In close cooperation with specific OEM programs, Roesle also spearheaded the  investment of technical resources to develop low density composite technology for  body panels and other applications. The technology allows automakers to take further advantage of composites’ ability to reduce weight and improve fuel efficiency.

Driving force for new growth
To advance composite manufacturing, Roesle has been a driving force in bringing new resin chemistries to market, including low pressure, low temperature technology that can dramatically lower capital investment in tooling and molding presses.

Roesle is also a strong supporter of ACMA’s efforts to advance the use of composites in infrastructure applications. He continues to be a highly effective industry advocate who over the years has developed a successful global network of high-level decision-makers.
