New clear gel coat reduces yellowing

October, 2009 : Collierville, TN

New Vibrin® G415AA clear gel coat from North American resin leader AOC LLC is designed to dramatically reduce yellowing in cast polymer surfaces.  “Laboratory tests show that Vibrin G415AA clear coat can reduce high temperature-induced yellowing by up to 50%,” said Dan Oakley, Gel Coat Product Leader for AOC.

The new product’s unique chemistry was developed to help maintain the original color of surfaces that are artistically enhanced by the Photofuzion™ process of Design Imaging LLC.  Because the process and performance characteristics of Vibrin G415AA are similar to standard clear gel coats, it can be used in all types of casting applications.

Vibrin G415AA is a prepromoted, thixotropic, neopentyl glycol isophthalic polyester gel coat designed for spray application.  In addition to its high resistance to yellowing, the new gel coat offers excellent clarity and color, good air release and leveling, and good resistance to ultraviolet light.

Natural look at a lower weight
Patented Photofuzion technology and methodology are licensed to authorized dealers for reproducing natural stone and other imagery on cultured marble and solid surface materials.  Granite, marble and other stone reproductions have the look of nature’s creations at a lower weight and without the potential for design imperfections.

Design Imaging licensees can access an extensive library of large format, high resolution images of natural stone, wood, accent strips, patterns and scenery.  The heat and vacuum of the Photofuzion press integrally transfers images into the gel coat at depths as great as 0.006 inch (0.152 millimeter).  The technology creates a sophisticated upscale look for a variety of applications such as tub and shower walls, vanity tops, splashes, and solid surface murals.
